Columbus, Ohio – Bolstered by a strong performance in the smallbore, the Nebraska rifle team opened its 2021 campaign with a 4,670-4,658 victory over Ohio State on Saturday. Nebraska's team score was its highest in a season opener since the 2005-06 campaign.
"Our first match of the season highlighted some areas that we need to hit hard in training, but also showed the amount of grit and mental toughness these six athletes have," said Rifle Coach Rachel Martin. "Having not competed since last February, there were many obstacles. But I'm very happy with the work ethic my athletes displayed on the range today, and it was rewarded with a solid Smallbore performance.
