In weather more suited for a guy named Noah trotting animals two by two, Brett Maher showed off why he might just be the top punter in Canada.
It was in a losing cause for Maher and his Ottawa Redblacks this week, but Maher showed off a booming leg in the midst of lightning, thunder, rain and heavy winds last Friday in Winnipeg.
The CFL delayed the start of the Ottawa-Winnipeg contest by a half hour as severe thunderstorm warnings were called for most of southern Manitoba that night. When play finally kicked off, the Redblacks floundered on offence, behind former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley, and gave Maher, Ottawa’s kickoff specialist, placekicker and punter, plenty of work.
