Nebraska hit the magic number, and needed just about every one of those 15 runs.
In a game featuring 35 hits, two grand slams and two three-run homers, Nebraska held on for a 15-11 win against the Mavericks. The 26 combined runs are a Bowlin Stadium record, topping the 25 NU and Michigan State combined for in a 15-10 Husker win in 2015.
"I thought our offense fought," Husker coach Rhonda Revelle said. "That was kind of the message of the day that offense needs to win it for us.
Senior Cassie McClure hit a three-run shot in the first inning, and freshman Haley Donaldson hit a grand slam in the second inning to give the Huskers a 9-2 cushion.
