Huskers grind out victory over Spartans in the snow

Barret Pickering hit three fourth-quarter field goals, helping Nebraska overcome a 6-0 deficit and a staunch Michigan State defense in a 9-6 victory on a snowy Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Nebraska fell behind 6-0 when Matt Coghlin hit his second field goal of the day with 12 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in the game.

The Huskers' first big passing play came on the first play of the ensuing drive, though, when Adrian Martinez hit Stanley Morgan for 35 yards up the seam and promptly put the hosts in field-goal range. The drive stalled there, but Pickering drilled a 36-yard field goal to halve the lead.
