Luis Alvarado's longest, and likely his best, start came at a much-needed time for the Nebraska baseball team.
After navigating through a combined 43 pitches over the first two innings, Alvarado settled in nicely, shutting down a potent Ohio State offense in a career-high 7 2/3 innings and helping Nebraska to a 7-3 win against the Buckeyes on Friday at Bill Davis Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
The Buckeyes jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and quickly extended it to 3-0 on Nate Romans' two-run blast to center field in the second inning.
