The message is there in the big print the moment anyone walks into Memorial Stadium.
It’s on every scoreboard and display screen in letters big enough even for people with “20/20 vision but squinting at the bar tab” eyes. Big “W”, big “I” in white, big damn “N” in red.
The message is for the players and coaches, of course - no more keeping it close, no more great effort (it’s just assumed, not being overlooked), no more moral victories - it’s time to put W’s on the board and not just the six which could send the Huskers to another wintry mix in Yankee Stadium in January.
