Huskers fall without Shields, but not far off, Miles says

MADISON, Wisc. – Nebraska’s first game without injured Shavon Shields resulted in a 72-61 loss Wednesday to Wisconsin before an announced crowd of 17,287 at the Kohl Center.

Yet coach Tim Miles, likely without Shields for at least another game, and probably longer, said his team isn’t that far off from being able to win without its senior captain and second-leading scorer.

“If you ask those guys, they thought they didn’t play well,” Miles said. “I said, ‘What if we get better nights by you, you and you, and make just 60 percent of our layups? We win.
