Husker women rally, then lock down on defense to shake off Wisconsin

The Nebraska women’s basketball team rallied from a 10-point first-half deficit and got tough on defense at the finish to beat Wisconsin 51-48 on Sunday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Wisconsin led by 10 points in the first half, but Nebraska competed the comeback late in the third quarter with a basket by Bria Stallworth.

But after missing five straight field goals, Wisconsin got within one point, 49-48, on a basket by Marsha Howard inside with 1 minute, 40 seconds left. NU had kept the Badgers from scoring for more than three minutes.

Kate Cain led the Huskers with 14 points and nine rebounds.
