Husker track and field gets off to throwing start for outdoor season

Brittni Wolczyk won the women's javelin title and and Pat Letz added a win in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Nebraska track and field teams on Friday's opening day of the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.

Wolczyk uncorked a throw of 170 feet, 1 inches to win the title and lead three Huskers in the top four spots. Chase Wolinski was third with a personal-best throw of 162-4 to move into eighth on the school's all-time list and Sydney Otto was fourth (158-6).

The Husker men lead the team race with 43 points, while the Husker women are tied with host Arizona State for first place with 22 points.
