There are many pictures of Abbie Epperson's parents from their Nebraska gymnastics days.
There is one, though, that came to mind as Epperson discussed the Masters Classic last week before a practice at the Devaney Sports Center. The picture in question is her grandmother, Mary, handing a Masters Classic award to her mother, Lisa, then a gymnast at Nebraska.
And boy, does Rich remember that first year. The Lincoln Youth Symphony was playing in a corner of the old NU Coliseum between breaks. Nebraska wrestlers were dressed in tuxedos and holding the score flashcards. All the athletes wore the same warmups, and all entered with a bouquet of flowers.
