Once Bob Diaco started bringing extra people on third downs in Nebraska's 27-17 win against Rutgers on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, he didn’t stop. The Huskers rushed three and dropped eight on Scarlet Knights’ first two third-down chances, but blitzed on the final 10.
He brought five on eight occasions and six on the other two.
In particular, the Blackshirts picked on redshirt freshman center Michael Maietti, who started as part of an offensive line shuffle for the Scarlet Knights.
Diaco stunted linebackers to the middle on four occasions – Alex Davis twice, Luke Gifford and Chris Weber – and they blew by Maietti on each.
