Tristan Gebbia, Keyshawn Johnson and the Calabasas (California) crew are a victory from state championship gold.
Gebbia, a Nebraska quarterback recruit, pieced together one of his best of games of the season Friday, throwing for 461 yards in a 58-21 win against Roosevelt in a California Southern Division 5 semifinal.
Gebbia threw for 318 yards in the first quarter — yes, the first quarter — as the Coyotes scored touchdowns on their first five drives. By halftime, Gebbia had 455 passing yards and five touchdown passes.
"I don't think film did them justice," Roosevelt coach Tommy Leach told the Los Angeles Daily News.
