Husker javelin throwers ready to fling this spring

While indoor meets take place all winter, the two javelin standouts are training to rack up team points and maybe even more school records in the spring.

“While everyone is traveling and competing, we’re kind of on the sidelines and don’t feel like part of the team sometimes,” Firestone said.

In their first meet of the year, the Pac 12/Big Ten Invite, the duo took first and second place.

This is not out of the ordinary for them. Firestone set the school record for javelin with a hurl of 184 feet, 3 inches as a sophomore while winning the Big Ten title.
