One of the reasons freshman place-kicker Barret Pickering chose to attend Nebraska was because of what he experienced Saturday.
"The fans are great here, and it's just great to see the stands full," he said Monday. "I want to feel that atmosphere and play in a full stadium all the time. I try to feed off that energy."
An Alabama high school star at powerhouse Hoover High School, Pickering says he kicked in front of 20,000 fans in a few high school games. His first game in college — a 33-28 loss to Colorado — included a missed field-goal try from 43 yards in the fourth quarter but four successful point-after kicks.
