The Nebraska sophomore wide receiver has always considered himself mentally tough, but there were moments when this latest setback — a bout of rhabdomyolysis following the first day of winter conditioning in January hospitalized him for several days — felt like it might be a knockout punch.
“I called my family members, questioning if this was for me, if this was I wanted to do,” he told reporters Saturday, the first time he’s talked publicly here since early last fall.
