Dave Hoppen has Larry Station to thank for his hall of fame basketball career.
Nebraska basketball's all-time leading scorer was playing tight end in high school at Omaha Benson and giving no thought to college basketball when he caught a pass over the middle and met Station, the Omaha Central star who would go on to become one the best football players ever to suit up for Iowa.
"I don't know if I had a concussion or not, but I went back to the huddle and they were calling the play, and I didn't have any idea what I was doing," Hoppen said Friday.
