Hohensee, Huskers blow past Charleston

Jake Hohensee celebrated his 23rd birthday with his best day as a Nebraska pitcher.

The senior from Lincoln East blew through 6 2/3 innings and gave up a solo home run to help the Huskers (7-8) post a 10-1 victory Friday over College of Charleston at Haymarket Park.

Nebraska coach Darin Erstad thought that possibly Hohensee was a little too relaxed at the start but gained momentum and his first win of the season. Hohensee allowed just four hits, walked three and struck out four.

"He kind of comatosed himself there a bit," said Erstad. "He tries to find the balance between being too excited and too relaxed, and that first batter he faced, he was almost asleep.
