Heat Index: Haskins unproven, but looks like the next exciting Ohio State talent

Husker Extra is running a series called Heat Index, a quick look at the Huskers before fall camp begins Aug. 3. This week, Parker Gabriel counts down the five best quarterbacks Nebraska is slated to face this fall.

There is of course a good dollop of projection in slotting Haskins, a first-time starter this fall with 171 snaps of collegiate experience, ahead of a player like Iowa’s Nate Stanley, but the Buckeye sophomore certainly looks like an exciting talent.

He showed playmaking ability in eight appearances as J.T. Barrett’s primary backup in 2017 and, at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, has the ability to be dangerous both in the passing game and the running game.
