MINNEAPOLIS - Nebraska sophomore Maddie Harris won the Big Ten javelin title for the second straight year to lead the Nebraska track and field team on Friday at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships at the University of Minnesota Track & Field Stadium.
Harris posted a school-record throw of 189-11 (57.90m) on her second attempt to defend her gold medal from last year. Her mark ranks third in the NCAA this season. Harris' title gives the Husker women six out of the last eight Big Ten javelin titles dating back to 2014. But she's the first Husker woman to repeat as a conference javelin champion since Kayla Wilkinson in the Big 12 in 2005 and 2006.
