Gomes Named Freshman All-American

Freshman Colby Gomes was one of 32 players named a freshman All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Monday. Gomes was a first-team pick as one of the top three freshman relief pitchers in the country.

A two-way player for the Huskers, Gomes biggest impact came on the mound where he was Nebraska's closer. The Omaha native ended the season with a team-high 13 saves, which tied him for 11th most in the country this season and were the most by a freshman in the Big Ten Conference.
