Lowe was in a classroom when a student came through the door with a shotgun. Lowe lunged toward the student and wrestled the gun away from him before any shots were fired, preventing anybody from being injured or killed.
In an interview with The Athletic before Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the Portland Trailblazers and Golden State Warriors – Portland star Damian Lillard invited Lowe to the game – Lowe discussed how a piece of advice from Nebraska head coach Scott Frost helped him make such a heroic choice.
Later, he added, “I don’t know about the word hero.
