Concordia (St. Paul) assistant football coach Russell Gary, who played for Minneapolis Central High School, the University of Nebraska and eight years in the NFL, died Sunday, the school announced.
Gary was at our Minnesotans for Nebraska Golf Outing this past summer. He played defensive back for Nebraska and was an All-Big Eight honoree in 1980. He was inducted into the Cornhusker Fall of Fame in 2013.
59 years old, died of a heart attack. Does that ever hit home. Take care of yourselves. And don’t think for a minute you’re entitled to a long life just because that’s what the “expectancy” is.
