Erika Freyhof finished third with a time of 16:52.1 at the Chile Pepper Festival on Friday evening. Freyhof's time is the fastest confirmed time by a Husker in a 5K race since 1999. The last known fastest time was set by Sammie Resh at the 1988 NCAA Championships with a time of 16:48.
The Husker women placed fourth with 187 points in the team standings, two points shy of Augustana in third place. The Nebraska men finished ninth in the team standings with 346 points. Arkansas took home the women's title with 45 points while the men's side was won by Colorado Mesa with a total of 39 points.
