Four-star safety Jones commits to Huskers

Jones, a four-star safety from Mansfield, Texas, announced his verbal commitment to the Huskers on a local Dallas television station, marking the end of a recruitment that seemed destined to wind up in Lincoln virtually since the time Scott Frost was hired here.

At 6-foot and 200 pounds, Jones is a consensus four-star prospect and earned second-team All-Area honors from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He finished his senior season with 80 tackles (six for loss) and an interception for 11-2 Mansfield. He also returned two kickoffs for touchdowns.

Jones County (Mississippi) Junior College defensive back Deontai Williams, a three-for-three transfer, and Ole Miss transfer Breon Dixon are already enrolled at NU, while Jones, three-star safety C.
