IOWA CITY, Iowa – Those Iowa fans who remained from the announced crowd of 11,736 at Carver-Hawkeye arena didn’t appreciate Tim Miles extending the final 90 seconds of Tuesday night’s game by directing his team to foul.
“I wouldn’t want to go back to Nebraska, either!” chirped one disgruntled spectator at the Nebraska coach, whose team trailed by 11 points.
Yet, it seemed logical to see No. 19 Iowa close out its 77-66 victory at the free-throw line, since that’s where the Hawkeyes had made their nest.
Iowa made two fewer field goals than Nebraska but went 24-of-32 on free throws.
