Per police reports and multiple sources, former Omaha Central, NFL and Nebraska Cornhuskers running back, Calvin Jones passed away in his home Wednesday at the age of 54.
Carbon monoxide poisoning, possibly due to furnace or generator issues, is believed to be the cause of death but this has not yet been confirmed pending an autopsy.
Jones was a two-time All-American (1992-93), Big 8 Offensive Player of the Year (1992-93), Big 8 Newcomer of the Year (1991) and a two-time All Big 8 selection (1992-93) for the Nebraska. He ran for 3153 yards and 40 TD’s in three years despite starting only 12 games.
