Former Huskers Long, Sirles putting on dinner for people affected by flooding

A pair of former Nebraska football players and NFL veterans are teaming up along with community members to help first responders and people in need in the wake of historic flooding.

Spencer Long and Jeremiah Sirles are putting on a dinner in Schuyler on Thursday night, and they've got plenty of help.

Long wrote in a Twitter message on Wednesday that he along with Jeremiah and Emma Sirles are working with Whitetails Unlimited, the Soltero Family and the Colfax County attorney's office to cater a dinner from 5-7 p.m. at the Oak Ballroom.

"If you are a first responder, state patrol, police officer, National Guard or any of the hundreds of volunteers that have worked tirelessly to help during this tough time this invitation is for you," Long wrote.
