Dave Rimington, the former Huskers football great, agreed Monday night to serve as Nebraska's interim athletic director, the Journal Star has learned.
A news conference to introduce Rimington is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday. Officials said he'll serve in the interim role for "up to 60 days."
That day, he told the Journal Star, “It’s a great honor and things have happened so fast that I haven’t really even had time to think about it.”
Discussions between Rimington and top administrators both at UNL and Varner Hall continued over the weekend, before an agreement was finalized Monday evening, officials said.
