Former Husker receiver Brandon Reilly signs reserve/future contract with Detroit Lions

Reilly joined the Cowboys' practice squad ahead of their playoff matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. Following the end of the season for Dallas, Reilly needed a new home.

On Tuesday, the Lions announced the signing of the former Husker wide receiver to a reserve/future contract for the 2019 season. Reilly returns to the Lions after spending the final two weeks of the 2018 season on the team’s practice squad.

A reserve/future contract occurs when a current season is still going on and serves as a camp invite to the player. Therefore, Reilly will not count against the Lions' salary figures for the 2018 season, but he will once the 2019 NFL campaign begins, as long as he is still under contract.
