A former member of the Husker track team who sued the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after alleging the athletics department retaliated against her following a domestic violence investigation has settled with the university.
According to documents filed in U.S. District Court on Wednesday by attorney Vince Powers, Melissa-Maree Farrington agreed to settle with UNL for $60,000.
Farrington sought $40,000 in damages in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Omaha in April, saying UNL's policies guiding Title IX investigations created an "environment more likely to lead to retaliation."
She reported a March 1, 2015, incident of domestic violence involving a fellow student-athlete she was dating to UNL the day after it took place, the complaint said.
