Dan Kendig was on the phone with a friend Friday, the same day the Nebraska Board of Regents approved a plan to build a new practice facility for the Husker gymnastics programs.
The NU women's coach will have to wait until late 2019 — the projected time frame for the completion of a $14 million addition to the northwest side of the Devaney Sports Center.
Kendig, who will be entering his 25th year as Nebraska's coach, remembers hearing talk of a possible new training facility for gymnastics for years.
"Now it's pretty exciting," he said.
