Nebraska outside hitter Mikaela Foecke was named one of 17 finalists Monday for the AAU James E. Sullivan Award on Monday.
The award has been presented to the nation's top amateur athlete since 1930.
Former Husker wrestler and Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs also is up for the award.
Foecke, a sophomore-to-be, helped Nebraska secure the program's fourth national volleyball championship last season. She was a unanimous Big Ten all-freshman team selection after averaging 3.09 kills per set.
Other semifinalists for the award include Derrick Henry (Alabama football), Deshaun Watson (Clemson football), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford football), Ben Simmons (LSU basketball), Breanna Stewart (UConn basketball) and Jordan Wilimovsky (USA swimming).
