Lincoln Pius X graduate and Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College outfielder Nolan Hakel announced via Twitter on Thursday his intentions to sign with the Huskers.
Hakel, a left-handed hitter, batted .361 this past season, and finished with 75 hits, 46 RBIs, 53 runs, 16 doubles, five triples and nine homers. His on-base percentage was .421 and his slugging mark was at .615.
Hakel was a second-team Super-Stater as a senior a Pius X, the same school that produced Jake Schleppenbach, who just wrapped up his Husker career after spending two seasons at Hutchinson CC. Hakel played center field and he also pitched in high school.
