Erstad continues to look for what buttons to push after Huskers' latest loss

On another cold, windy, lousy night for baseball in Lincoln, Nebraska lost to the University of Nebraska Omaha for the first time since 1997 as the Mavericks never trailed in an 8-7 win Wednesday.

Nebraska’s 19th loss of the season looked a lot like many of the previous 18.

The Huskers’ beleaguered pitching staff, which went through seven arms Tuesday, walked nine batters, hit five more and threw a wild pitch that led to a run. It reached such a point midway through the game that Nolan Hakel, a junior outfielder from Lincoln Pius X who had played in just five games all season, came on for an inning-and-a-third of work.
