Driving for 6: Aaron Williams playing for fifth safeties coach; Shepard's rise; Beilein's evolution

1. Forgive Nebraska senior safety Aaron Williams if he’s lost count of the number of position coaches for whom he’s played.

The number is now five. That seems ridiculous, borderline obscene, particularly for those Husker fans who remember when stability in the coaching staff was a program hallmark.

“From each coach, you take what they taught you and you just keep applying it and keep applying it,” he said.

As a freshman in 2015, Williams was coached by Brian Stewart. Former Nebraska head coach Mike Riley, who showed a propensity for shuffling staff, changed things up in 2016, with Stewart focusing on cornerbacks and then-defensive coordinator Mark Banker guiding the safeties.
