We learned that the Husker women are headed to the Birmingham Regional as a 10 seed in the NCAA basketball tournament. They will face Louisville, coached by former Husker assistant Troy Walz.
The overall #1 seed is UCLA, a team the Huskers played pretty well in the Big Ten tournament (but lost badly in their regular season matchup). Fellow Big Ten newcomer, USC is another #1 seed. If I have my count right, 12 Big Ten women’s teams made the tournament. When Maryland joined the Big Ten, they brought an elite women’s program. Now, the west coast teams have taken that another step further.
