Cernjul Finishes 15th at World Championships

Former Nebraska track and field high jumper Marusa Cernjul tied for 15th in the high jump at the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Friday morning.

Cernjul, competing for Slovenia, cleared 6-2 1/4 (1.89m) and just missed a top-12 qualification spot for the final. Twelve jumpers made it over 6-3 1/2 (1.92m) and advanced to the event final.

Cernjul finished 21st at the Olympics in 2016 and was ninth at the European Indoor Championships this year. The Celje, Slovenia native, was a first-team All-American in the high jump for Nebraska at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing seventh.
