All in all, Western Carolina never succumbed to the cold and beat Nebraska 8-2 Saturday afternoon at Haymarket Park.
Coupled with Friday’s 5-2 Catamount victory, Nebraska is left scratching its collective head to find a solution.
“We have to be a lot better,” said Husker coach Darin Erstad, whose team fell to 5-8, with a 1 p.m. game Sunday against Western Carolina to close out the series.
Defensively, Nebraska played well. Second baseman Jake Schleppenbach turned a couple of double plays with long-ranging runs and throws to limit the Catamounts in the third and fifth innings.
