Danielle Breen never expected to emerge from Nebraska’s annual Masters Classic as the all-around champion.
Really, who could blame her for being surprised?
Breen, a sophomore from Ames, Iowa, did her first collegiate vault Saturday night.
To top that off, her routine marked Nebraska’s first 10.0 start value on the event this season.
“It took me a little bit to get back into it, both physically and mentally,” said Breen, who hadn’t yet done vault because of injury. “They were just waiting to put me in, and the team needed me today.”
