Big Ten men's basketball power rankings, Jan. 4

1. Maryland (13-1, 2-0)

Freshman center Diamond Stone swept Big Ten freshman of the week and player of the week honors after scoring 39 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in his Big Ten debut, a 70-64 victory against Penn State. The 39 points are the most by a freshman in Maryland history. Stone also set a school record with 25 free-throw attempts and 19 makes.

2. Iowa (11-3, 2-0)

Iowa has won eight consecutive Big Ten Conference regular-season games dating to last season, and has defeated two ranked Big Ten teams in the same week for the first time since 1987.
