COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong was carted off the field and taken by an ambulance to a local hospital after his head hit the turf in the second quarter of the game against Ohio State.
The Husker athletic department quickly issued a statement with the limited known details, saying: According to Nebraska medical personnel, quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. was briefly knocked unconscious. He was moving all extremities and talking while on the field. He is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The senior's head hit the turf after he was knocked out of bounds on an 11-yard run with 6:03 left in the second quarter and Nebraska trailing 24-3.
