But the Huskers stranded 10 runners and the Beavers used a fast start for a 5-2 win in the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge on Saturday in Surprise, Arizona.
Nebraska (1-4) was out-hitting Oregon State 9-7 after six innings and while Nebraska coach Darin Erstad said the approach with runners on was better, the Huskers put their backs to the wall too often.
"We just didn't generate anything with zero outs," Erstad said on his postgame radio show. "When you have to always get two-out hits, it makes it harder."
Oregon State (6-1) got off to a fast start with KJ Harrison's two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off NU starter Jake Myers.
