Luis Alvarado broke out of a slump and gave Nebraska its first three-game sweep of the season when he lined a pitch to left to score Scott Schreiber in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday, giving the Huskers a 7-6 victory over Rutgers.
The Huskers (29-16-1, 12-5-1 Big Ten) rallied after Rutgers tied the game with a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning.
Jake Meyers, who pitched 7 1/3 innings, was sharp most of the game but he was tagged for four runs in the eighth and left without a decision. But reliever Chad Luensmann finished off the eighth inning and survived the ninth for the victory.
