Someone told him that outside linebackers in a 3-4 defense are like the 3-4-5 hitters in a baseball lineup. They're expected to carry a heavy load. In short, they're typically studs.
"It's a lot of responsibility, but I think that's fun — you really feel part of the defense," said the 6-foot-5, 260-pound native of Riviera Beach, Florida, 80 miles north of Miami.
In a 3-4 defense, outside linebackers must set the edge in the run game, drop into pass coverage when necessary and, of course, be adept at rushing the passer.
"They called on me, and I was there to answer," he said of the Nebraska coaches.
