Chat Sports presents "The Top 5 Bars To Drink at Following a Nebraska Football Game" a look at the ruckus post-game atmosphere outside a Nebraska football game. This
For many Huskers fans, these watering holes are familiar names and have been checked off of your Nebraska football bucket list. Getting Cornhuskers season tickets has been compared to winning the lottery for some diehard fans, so you can imagine that Nebraska fans have a great time following the game at these popular campus pubs But, for fans who have never been to Lincoln (and plan to) and students who recently turned 21, we hope this list provides solid insight into the best places to drink and celebrate with one of the most loyal, passionate fan bases in all of college football.
Lincoln pulls out all the stops to have a tremendous game day atmosphere and these bars play a big part of the environment that turns Memorial Stadium into the 3rd largest city in the state on football Saturdays.
Without further ado, we present The Top XX Bars To Drink at Following a Nebraska Football Game:
5. Buzzard Billy's: 247 N. 8th St. Ste 101 Lincoln, NE
This bar favorite is 2 blocks from Memorial Stadium and offers 24+ beers on tap, as well as some solid Cajun cuisine to keep you fueled post-game. The bar is known for its large covered patio dining area that fronts 8th street. TV's are everywhere, in addition to the bar being covered from floor to ceiling with neon beer signs, old gas signs, alligators, license plates... really everything someone could collect.
4. The Brass Rail: 1436 O St Lincoln, NE
This is typically where the Greeks hang out during the school year, but the crowd post-game is welcoming to all fans. Cheap drinks and an outdoor garden make for a very enjoyable atmosphere to have a brew and discuss the strategy for next week's game with friends. Don't try to crawl up on the rooftop, or else you might be finishing your night in the Lincoln Police Department drunk tank.
3. Brothers Bar and Grill: 1339 'O' Street Lincoln, NE
Expect to wait in a long line to get into Brothers, but also expect to have a lot of fun once you get inside. Although it has a reputation of being a tad "fratty", the crowd on game day is a solid mix and packs this place elbow to elbow in support of Big Red. In addition to the excellent selection of keg beers, Brothers is known for having tremendous chicken wings. If you are in the mood to celebrate after a day at the stadium, hit the dance floor, which is sure to be packed with some of NU's finest co-eds.
2. Barry's Bar and Grill: 235 N. 9th St., Lincoln, NE.
A giant mecca of Huskerdom and now has an outside roof deck that packs folks pre, during and post-game on any Huskers football Saturday. One former student we spoke to said that this bar fits about as many people as are crammed into the stadium. Barry's is an easy trek to the Memorial and is sure to be packed with alums and students. This campus fave has nearly every college game on the many TV's, but the sound and the overwhelming attention of the patrons is focused on Bo Pelini's team.
1. Duffy's: 1412 O St Lincoln, NE
This place is legendary, and is best for after a game. We have been told by an alum that Duffy's has "been around forever" and is the spot to be post-game. Liquor fishbowls, dollar shots and more kegs in it's beer garden than anywhere else in town makes this place special. Duffy's also has a pool table, pinball machine and plenty of big TV's to catch the rest of the day's football games. One warning: don't chug the fishbowls unless you seriously want to have a good time that night - they are not for novice drinkers, pros only.
