Wisconsin to name Gard permanent coach

Wisconsin has tentatively scheduled a press conference for Tuesday to announce that it is removing the interim tag from Greg Gard, who will then become the Badgers' full-time men's basketball coach, a source confirmed to CBS Sports on Monday. Gard's contract is expected to be approved by the UW Board of Regents on Monday night, according to the Wisconsin State Journal, which reported the development earlier.

Gard, 45, was an assistant under Bo Ryan for parts of 23 seasons before he was promoted when Ryan abruptly retired in December, after a victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
