ORLANDO, Fla. -- Miami cornerback DJ Ivey is suspended for the season opener against Florida for a violation of team rules, the team announced Saturday.
Ivey didn't travel with the team. The sophomore had been competing with Al Blades for the starting cornerback job. With Ivey out, Blades is expected to start, but Miami will be lacking for depth and experience in the defensive backfield.
The Gators suspended safety Brad Stewart Jr., defensive tackle Tedarrell Slaton, receiver Rick Wells and walk-on Pat Moorer for not living up to the Gator standard, according to the school.
