UCLA's Adams charged with battery in Aug. incident

UCLA defensive back Ishmael Adams was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery Monday stemming from an August confrontation with an Uber driver, according to Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman Rob Wilcox.

Adams, a first-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2014 at cornerback, was suspended for three games as a result of the incident and will not face further discipline following the misdemeanor charge, according to UCLA spokesman Josh Rupprecht.

Adams was arrested for robbery on Aug. 30 after he allegedly used force to take a cellphone from the driver. Wilcox declined comment when asked to explain the process that led to the City Attorney's decision to file the battery charge.
