The joke had become as old and tired as Georgia’s annual march from the top 10 into an embarrassing loss to Steve Spurrier or a comeuppance against Nick Saban or an abominable performance against Florida.

“Mark Richt has lost control…”

It was an Internet meme born of the 2012 offseason when a bunch of Georgia players did stupid things of varying degrees, leading to a rash of suspensions and dismissals. After that, you could really just fill in the blank. Any time something bad happened to Georgia, Richt was losing control. Georgia came within a play of making the national championship game that season, where it would have been an overwhelming favorite to beat Notre Dame.
