THE SEASON OF '99

Got my first real cell phone
waited in the Star Wars line
Played Dreamcast til my fingers bled
It was the season of '99

me and some other bowls
formed a pact and we tried real hard
once again, K-State got shut out
shoulda known, they'd never get far

ohhh when I look back now
thought Florida'd always get big bowl bids
And we all rejoiced
When Cincinnati beat Wisconsin
Those were the best games of my life

Ain't no use in complainin'
When the Buckeyes miss a bowl
John Cooper will be fired soon
For losing ten to the team in blue

Standin' up on Rocky Top
The Vols were gonna win forever
Oh, and Tommy Tuberville
He was never leaving Oxford
In retrospect both of those were wrong

Man we were killin' time
The Big Easts and Westses
Still hadn't been unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, forever

And now the times are changing
BCS has come and gone
Sometimes I play that old Dreamcast
Look at Purdue and wonder what went wrong

Playin' 'gainst Virginia Tech
Thought Beamer couldn't coach forever
Number seven Michael Vick
Was gonna be the greatest ever
Those were the best games of my life

Oh yeah
Back in the season of '99

Editorial Postscript: I feel it's important to reiterate, as there are many out there who may still not be aware: Bryan Adams was 9 in the summer of 1969.
